Cross Section –Rock ‘N Roll Queen

Cross Section –Lovin’ Song/ Rock ‘N Roll Queen –Cross Section AAM (1974 UK)
Bands releasing their own records certainly didn’t start in year “0” as is proven here by the first and most likely only single by the totally unknown Cross Section. It just happens that a copy of this single has popped up on ebay advertised as "Glam", so I present to you the track in question to enable you to make an educated decision if it’s worth bidding for or not...

Rock ‘N Roll Queen is in fact the B side of the weak and anaemic Lovin’ Song. The first thing you will notice on Rock ‘N Roll Queen are the low production values, so the Boogie element doesn’t quite kick ass as it should and the Glitter element doesn't exactly sparkle, still the voice over is different and the lead guitar tries its best within the limitations. So... who from Mr. Astley, Morton, Jeffery or Savage will be the first to announce themselves and tell the story?

it's a bit stinky, don't buy it

That's what I call an educated decision, unless Anonymous doesn't want anyone else bidding against him (her)...

yes, maybe it's not that great but i like the song; to me it's more "freakrock" sounding than glam. Could be at home in one of these "Electric Asylum" comp. from Past& Present.

By the way i suggest to bid but don' t spend too much money for it.
(oops, almost forgot: keep on dude, i like this blog, especially the post freakbeat/psych stuff).

Yeah it could be that the first guy's comment is an honest opinion where he (or she) only means to advise his (or her) fellow music lovers - in which case it can be seen as a positive contribution. Personally I would give it, say, 4 out of 10

In conclusion I would say that collecting this stuff goes in layers:First you gain entrance into the cave and everyone rushes in and collects the big golden nuggets from the (Velvet)tinmine (Hector, Daddy Maxfield, Mustard etc...) Once these obvious choice pieces have been found, once starts to look around the ground in case stuff was dropped on the way out and where some dirty little rocks might have a bit of Gold on their underside. All the while escavation/mining continues and once in a while a wonder-nugget is found. The expectancy is high to stumble onto something and this is where the fun primarily resides. So when something looks completely unknown and has the "lure/ebay description" of Glam, one always hopes for a wonder find. The cave/tunnel is part of a wider tunnel complex where there are Powerpop , Freakrock, Punk, Freakbeat mining operations happening at the same time, sometimes a wall collapses and an anti-chamber is shared between the different teams. Niceties are exchanged and some miners jump ship for a while before returning to their initial teams. I have share holdings in the overal mountain exploitation license and also have interests in Bubblegum Mound and in the North face of Garage Punk as well as in sea Surf salt operations and girl group surface mining...

The "vocalist" (ahem) in this instance is my father, Allan Astley-Morton. My brother and I have been abusing him for this song for the best part of 30 years, and I am delighted that it has made it to a wider audience!
